FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a virtual visit work?
Visits take place over a secure video call — no travel required. After booking, you'll receive instructions for joining your appointment from a computer, tablet, or phone.
Do I need a physician referral?
Not always, but many of our clients are referred by a physician, especially for insurance-covered visits. If you have a referral, have your physician's office submit it through our For Physicians page, or bring it to your first visit.
What happens at my first visit?
Your first visit is a comprehensive nutrition assessment — a detailed review of your health history, eating patterns, and goals, used to build a personalized care plan.
Will my insurance cover this?
Insurance billing is currently available only for eligible services provided to clients located in Minnesota. Coverage varies by plan, diagnosis, referral requirements, and telehealth policy. Verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment. We're happy to help you understand what to check with your plan before your visit.
Do you work with clients outside Minnesota?
Yes — clients anywhere in the U.S. can work with us on a self-pay basis for services like meal planning, exercise planning, and self-directed weight-management support. Insurance-billed Medical Nutrition Therapy is currently limited to clients located in Minnesota.
Is diabetes care available yet?
Diabetes Self-Management Training is coming soon. In the meantime, Medical Nutrition Therapy visits may still support blood-sugar and diabetes-related nutrition concerns when clinically appropriate — reach out with questions.
